Milestone 1
OBSERVING THE DESIGN PRINCIPLES
Let's dive into the UX/UI Design Principles!

1. Emphasis - The aim of Emphasis is to create a focal point in the design : an eye-catching part that stands out, distinct from the rest of the design elements.
This is evident in the website design of Apple. Apple's focus has always been on their products, as they don't need to rely on bells and whistles to sell to their audience. This is reflected in their minimalistic layout where they keep the spotlight on their new product.
2. Balance and Alignment - The use of balance or symmetry grants equal weight to objects used in a design. However, breaking that balance by using an asymmetric arrangement of elements can draw attention to where the point of imbalance occurs and now, this point of imbalance becomes useful where the most valuable image or message can be inserted.
Both the ways, symmetrical and asymmetrical, can be seen in the design of Apple's website. The new products are so strategically placed that they never fail to draw the users' attention.
3. Contrast - Contrast is what people mean when they say a design 'pops'. The prime focus should be of enhancing users' experience by selecting a complementary color palette to give a balanced look to the website design.
This principle applies to the website design of Spotify. It has the combination of many different colors and still proves to be a visually appealing website.
4. Repetition - It is often said that repetition unifies and strengthens a design. Repetition is not only of colors or fonts but also of spacing and layouts. This helps to create a sense of order and gives the website a polished and professional feel.
The application of this principle can be seen in the website design of both Apple and Spotify. The overall appearance of Apple's website is very elegant and minimalist. There is a lot of white space and only relevant content is presented in a clean and straightforward way. While, Spotify shows us how to embrace the vibrant color schemes and always feeling refreshing.
5. Proportion - Proportion can be achieved only if all the elements of the design are well-sized and thoughtfully placed. Good proportion adds symmetry and balance among the parts of the design.
The website design of Apple seems to be a good example for this principle.
6. Movement - While a website design should be aesthetically pleasing and innovative, it also needs to be logical. Movement is controlling the elements in a design so that the eye is led to move from one part to the other and the information is properly communicated. This provides the user with a relaxing experience.
The clean and fresh designs of Apple and Spotify not only make these websites appealing but also prove to grab users' attention to the new features thereby, keeping the audience on the page for longer.
7. White Space - It refers to the empty area between the visual elements in the design. Using white space draws users' attention to the most important content, increases text readability and creates a seamless user experience.
